A unique creation reinventing Marseille’s beaches
At the initiative of the City of Marseille, an ambitious coastal design project was launched: creating a new visual identity for the city’s beaches. Imagined by artistic director Franck Tallon and developed by Sud Side, these monumental buoys are among the first elements installed on the sand.
A custom 3D-printed concrete base
3D Concrete was selected to produce the lower part of these installations: circular seating elements manufactured with 3D concrete printing.
Thanks to our concrete extrusion technology, we created generous, robust shapes, perfectly suited to outdoor public use. Their unique geometry and raw finish give them both functional and architectural character.
Durable and identity-defining public furniture
Inspired by the horizon line and the movement of waves, these buoys combine signage, public seating and visual landmark. Their custom 3D-printed concrete base ensures optimal stability while withstanding coastal exposure. The chosen materials are durable, robust and adapted to long-term seaside conditions.
A collaboration combining design, engineering and territory
This project highlights the growing interest of local authorities in innovative, sustainable and user-oriented solutions. By blending creativity, craftsmanship and additive manufacturing, the collaboration between Sud Side and 3D Concretedemonstrates the potential of 3D concrete printing for transforming public spaces.
